Zeljko Petrovic

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: Al-Qadisiya has appointed Montenegrin coach Zeljko Petrovic to replace Mohammed Al-Mishaan, who resigned last week. Despite leading the team to victory in the Amir Cup last season, Al-Mishaan's departure follows a disappointing start to the new season, with two losses in the Zain Premier League. Petrovic is expected to arrive today to finalize his contract and observe Al-Qadisiya’s friendly match against Al-Nasr tomorrow. He will officially take charge of training on Sunday.

Petrovic brings a wealth of experience, having played for the Montenegrin national team and managed several European clubs, including Boavista (Portugal), RKC (Serbia), Hamburg (Germany), West Ham (England), Urawa Reds (Japan), Sunderland (England), ADO Den Haag (Netherlands), Utrecht (Netherlands), Botev Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Inter Zaprešić (Croatia), and Feyenoord (Netherlands). He has also coached the Iraqi national team and the UAE’s Al Shaab. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach for Turkey's Adana Demirspor in 2023 and managed Zrinjski Mostar in Bosnia this year.

Al-Qadisiya has also revamped its football administration, appointing former star Musaed Neda as team manager. The club hopes these changes will help turn the season around and reignite its pursuit of the league title, which has eluded the club for several years.
