KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) have expressed profound sorrow and deep concern over the tragic death of a young Kuwaiti child allegedly caused by a Filipino domestic worker.
In a statement shared with Arab Times on Friday, the Philippine Embassy extended heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family, affirming its solidarity during this difficult time. “The Embassy is cooperating fully with Kuwaiti authorities investigating the incident,” the statement read, adding that assistance is being provided to the detained domestic worker per Kuwaiti law and its diplomatic mandate. The DMW echoed these sentiments in a separate statement on Saturday, conveying its condolences to the child’s family and the Kuwaiti government.

The department assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the Philippine Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office in Kuwait. “The DMW is providing the necessary assistance to the domestic worker while respecting Kuwaiti laws and our mandate,” the statement said. Both the Embassy and the DMW emphasized that this isolated incident does not reflect the values of Filipinos or Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), who are widely regarded for their dedication, reliability, and positive contributions to society.
The tragic event occurred on Thursday when the Filipino domestic worker allegedly placed the young child inside a washing machine at her employer’s residence, leading to his death. Initial reports suggest the parents rushed to the child’s aid after hearing his cries but were unable to save him. He was transported to Jaber Hospital, where medical staff confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries.
