KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 27: The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait expressed its profound shock and sadness over a tragic incident involving a Filipino domestic worker and the death of a young Kuwaiti child in her employer’s household.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Embassy extended its heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family, affirming its solidarity during this difficult time.
“The Embassy is cooperating fully with Kuwaiti authorities investigating the incident,” the statement read, adding that it also assists the detained domestic worker under Kuwaiti law and its diplomatic mandate.
The Embassy emphasized that this isolated incident does not reflect the character of Filipinos in Kuwait, who are widely regarded for their dedication, reliability, and positive contributions to society.
The tragic event occurred on Thursday, when a Filipino maid allegedly placed a young Kuwaiti child inside a washing machine at a residence, resulting in the child’s death. According to initial reports, the child’s parents rushed to his aid after hearing his cries but were unable to save him. He was taken to Jaber Hospital, where medical staff confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities, including police and detectives, are actively investigating the case. The accused maid has been detained for questioning.
