KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: Faisal Al-Otaibi, the Director of the Cleaning and Road Occupations Department at the Hawalli Governorate Municipality Branch and Chairman of the Spring Camps Committee, has specified five locations earmarked for tourism projects where barbecuing is allowed, according to a report by Al-Rai daily. Three of these sites, situated on Al-Blajat Street, will be designated by the company at a later date, while the remaining two sites are enclosed areas—one on Beach Al-Aqila and the other in the Al-Khiran Park

The open sites on Al-Blajat Street will be free of charge, while the closed sites will charge an entry fee (ticket) by the Tourism enterprise company. Al-Otaibi emphasized that individuals barbecuing outside the designated sites may face fines ranging from 500 to 2000 dinars

The committee has established specific conditions for the designated barbecuing sites, including the prohibition of barbecues on sand or grass, the requirement for special containers for charcoal ash, the use of elevated transporters, and the installation of surveillance cameras at the sites. Additionally, specific hours for barbecuing will be enforced, after which the site must be vacated. Regarding smoking shisha at these locations, Al-Otaibi mentioned that the committee has not yet discussed this issue but will be on the agenda for the upcoming meeting
