Police Impersonator Scams Kuwaiti Citizen via Video Call – Loses 1,226 Dinars

KUWAIT CITY, April 22: A Kuwaiti citizen fell victim to a video call scam and lost 1,226 dinars, despite numerous warnings from the Central Bank and media outlets about fraudulent schemes. The victim was deceived by someone pretending to be a police officer, who asked for sensitive financial information under the guise of updating bank records, reports Al-Anba daily. According to a security source, the incident was reported at the Al-Mutlaa Police Station. The victim explained that he received a video call from a person dressed in a police uniform and speaking fluent Kuwaiti dialect. The caller claimed to be from the Ministry of Interior and asked for the victim’s bank card details, including his secret security code. Trusting the scammer, the victim provided the requested information.
