KUWAIT CITY, Jan 5: Statistics issued by the General Department of Rescue Police, led by Brigadier Fares Al-Qahtani, for the period between Dec 22 and Dec 28 revealed that a large number of individuals were arrested for offenses related to drugs, alcohol, and public disturbances during the week, reports Al-Anba daily. It explained that the rescue police and their security teams, during their campaigns, arrested 86 individuals involved in drug possession, alcohol-related offenses, or public intoxication, issued 8,072 citations for various violations, and broke up 34 fights and arrested the individuals involved. Among the arrests, 26 individuals were detained for possessing narcotic substances or pills and were referred to the Drug Control General Department (DCGD).
Furthermore, 12 individuals were arrested for possessing both local and imported intoxicants, and 38 were referred to police stations to face charges for being caught drunk. The arrested individuals included some who were driving their vehicles in an “abnormal” state. These drivers were also arrested, and traffic citations were issued for driving under the influence, which could result in the revocation of their driving licenses for several months. In addition, ten individuals were arrested with active sentences, and 42 expatriates were found in violation of residency laws. Also, 71 vehicles wanted by the judiciary were identified, and 34 quarrels were resolved, with the parties involved arrested. The emergency teams issued a total of 8,072 citations, and nine vehicles were referred to the impound garage.
