KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) is currently conducting an extensive inspection campaign to uncover electricity and water violations in agricultural lots, equestrian stables and industrial areas. Head of the judicial control team Abdullah Al-Aibani confirmed this campaign complies with the directive of Assistant Undersecretary for the Customer Service Sector and Head of the Follow-up Committee Falah Bader Al-Mutairi, who also laid down the plan to implement Law No. 48/2005. He affirmed the campaign aims to discover violations like illegal extensions in the electrical and water networks or wastage of such vital resources. Al-Aibani disclosed the inspection campaign in Kabad has concluded and it continuing in Jahra stables, to be followed by the agricultural areas in Wafra, Abdali, Sulaibiya and livestock pens.

He said they are currently coordinating with the relevant authorities and ministries to obtain approval to conduct joint inspection campaigns in these areas. He explained that the plan aims to put an end to violations in remote and industrial areas to reduce pressure on the electricity and networks. He added the judicial control team will be in various governorates, indicating that increasing the number of members to 27 judicial officers will support the work, as the judicial officers will control violations, each according to his jurisdiction. He affirmed that warnings will be issued and cases of water or electricity wastage will be recorded. He added that tampering, extension violations or encroachments on the network will be reported and the electricity will be disconnected immediately. “The violator must visit the relevant committee in the ministry for reconciliation orders and pay the fine or be referred to trial,” he warned. He urged the public to extend a hand of cooperation with the judicial control team by reporting violations through hotline numbers 152-153 round the clock, asserting that legal measures will be taken immediately.
