KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: The Kuwaiti General Fencing Championship concluded, featuring the active participation of 167 players representing 11 clubs competing across three distinct weapons: (Floret), (Sabre), and (Epee). The competitions unfolded over a span of three days within the Fencing Federation hall in the Daiya area.

On the tournament's opening day, Ali Abbas from Yarmouk clinched the gold medal in the fluorescent weapon category. Al-Shabab's Ahmed Nassar secured the silver medal, followed by Salmiya's Yaqoub Al-Shatti and Yarmouk's Muhammad Al-Rabab, both earning bronze medals.

The second day witnessed Al-Qadisiyah's Abdulaziz Al-Shatti seizing the gold medal in the epee competition. Faisal Ashkanani, representing the Kuwaiti Fencing Federation, claimed the silver medal. Kuwaiti players Abdul-Rahman Yaqout and Abdulaziz Al-Awadhi both achieved third place, earning bronze medals.

In the final day's events, Al-Arabi's Abdulaziz Khalifa emerged victorious with the gold medal in the saber competition. Al-Arabi's Ali Fereydoun secured the silver medal, while Kuwaiti player Sultan Al-Nashwan and Al-Qadisiyah's Waseem Al-Ashqar shared the bronze medal.

Hamad Al-Awadhi, Secretary of the Kuwaiti Fencing Federation, highlighted that this championship marked the inaugural event of the season (2023-2024) for adults. The competition included 43 participants in fluorescent weapon contests, 91 in epee competitions, and 33 in saber competitions. Al-Awadhi expressed the federation's aspiration to organize numerous local tournaments to elevate player skills and readiness for upcoming competitions.
