KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The Kuwait junior handball team is actively implementing its preparatory plans for the 10th Asian Junior Championship, scheduled to take place in Shiraz, Iran, from September 3-14. The team competes in Group D alongside Japan, China, and Jordan.
Currently, the team is undergoing an external training camp in Slovenia, where it has played several friendly matches against teams from Italy, Kosovo, and Austria. Under the guidance of Montenegrin coach Marko Martinovic and his national assistant Hussein Habib, the technical staff has focused on implementing strategies and tactics during these matches and intensive daily training sessions held twice a day, morning and evening. This is aimed at achieving maximum player harmony and assessing individual performance levels before the Asian Championship.
Team manager Yousef Al-Shaheen praised the players' dedication during the Slovenian camp and their eagerness to benefit significantly from the experience. He stated, "The players have worked hard to execute the coach's plans and ideas, and their performance has improved steadily, showing strong physical and mental growth." Al-Shaheen also mentioned that the technical staff, led by Martinovic, has analyzed the teams in Group Four, identifying their strengths and weaknesses through theoretical lectures and practical training.
He added, "We operate as a unified team, with a group of talented young players who will eventually lead the senior team. It is crucial to prepare them properly through participation in Gulf, Arab, and Asian championships. This is the Kuwait Handball Association's current focus, to ensure we have a generation capable of representing Kuwait handball with distinction and reclaiming continental dominance in the future."
