LONDON, Feb 2: Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, emphasized the need for greater compassion and empathy in her first major public message since resuming official duties after receiving treatment for cancer.
In a foreword to a report released on Sunday by the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which she launched in 2021, Kate stressed that finding lasting solutions to issues like poor mental health, addiction, and abuse requires a process of "resetting, restoring, and rebalancing."
"That means taking a profound look at ourselves and our own behaviours, emotions, and feelings," Kate, wife of Prince William, heir to the throne, wrote. "It means getting much better at acting with compassion and empathy towards one another, to help us bond and maintain lasting relationships that bring meaning to our lives... At the heart of all of this is the need for us to develop and nurture a set of social and emotional skills which we must prioritise if we are to thrive."
The Centre, which was established as part of Kate and William's Royal Foundation charity, explained that its 'Shaping Us Framework' aims to increase awareness of the importance of social and emotional skills and provide a "robust yet flexible" model for leading a healthy and happy life.
The Princess of Wales has gradually returned to her public royal duties after completing a course of preventative chemotherapy to address an unspecified form of cancer. In the past week, she has made two public appearances at events.
