KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Kuwait Municipality announced that it will not allow any business related to solid waste transportation without obtaining a qualification certificate from the concerned committee. In a circular, the municipality stated that the extension period for allowing the practice of transporting solid, construction and asbestos waste without obtaining a qualification certificate from the concerned committee ended on March 31, 2023. In this regard, a source explained that the municipality, through the concerned committee, is undertaking the process of qualifying companies and institutions to carry out waste transportation work by the requirements and standards set for this purpose. It is also responsible for classifying these companies according to the type of waste to be transported and the nature of its composition, in coordination with the relevant authorities in the country.

The concerned committee is authorized to issue the required licenses and set the conditions and controls that must be met when classifying waste transportation contractors, withdrawing the license, or temporarily suspending them. On the other hand, Kuwait Municipality’s teams continued to intensify their field inspection tours to ensure the extent of compliance with regulations and monitor encroachments on state properties in investment and commercial areas. Head of the Violations Removal Department at the Farwaniya Municipality Fahad Al-Muwaizri explained that the field tours carried out by the department were held under the direct supervision and follow-up by the branch director Mubarak Al-Ajmi from the beginning of April until last Saturday. The inspection tours resulted in the issuance of 210 warnings against encroachments on state properties used to rent parking lots and umbrellas within the Farwaniya Governorate, Necessary measures were taken against the violators. The municipal teams will continue to carry out field tours. Al-Muwaizri called on violators of municipal rules and regulations to respond and expedite the removal of the violations so that they are not subject to the law.
