Ministry signs several contracts in preparation for new academic year

Ministry of Education cleaning contracts

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: In light of the intensification of efforts by the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Education to complete preparations for the new academic year 2023/2024, informed educational sources affirmed the readiness of the ministry in terms of cleaning, guarding, correspondence and transportation contracts, reports Aljarida daily.

They explained that the ministry worked on preparing cleaning contracts and signing with companies that won tenders a while ago. It also prepared guard contracts and started implementing them. The ministry extended correspondence contracts until the end of April 2024, and measures are currently being taken to create new contracts. The ministry also signed contracts with one of the winning companies for school bus tenders.

These contracts will be implemented in three educational zones - Capital, Hawally and Mubarak Al-Kabeer. Work is currently underway to speed up the completion of other contracts with a company to implement bus contracts in three other areas - Ahmadi, Jahra, and Farwaniya. The concerned authorities in the ministry are striving to speed up the completion of the remaining contracts for buses, as the delay in signing contracts is due to the objection of some oversight authorities. Coordination is currently underway with these authorities to speed up the completion of contracts and their signing with the winning companies to ensure the continued provision of service to students in the educational stages, which is covered by the provision of bus services, especially for girls’ schools in the intermediate and secondary stages.

In addition, the ministry instructed private cleaning companies to hire workers and start cleaning schools from August 15. About eight cleaners will be provided for each school according to the contracts concluded with the companies. The sources indicated that the public education sector directed school principals to form a team to follow up the maintenance and cleaning work before the start of the school year, adding that coordination with them is carried out by the competent authorities and companies to ensure the completion of work and the start of the school year without any obstacles.
