KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Head of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students – Egypt Branch, Ayoub Al-Sarraf, pointed out that the most prominent problems faced by Kuwaiti students studying in Egypt include: authentication of certificate and delay of such process, which starts from the time the certificate is awarded to the graduate through the cultural office that requires the college to validate the data before attestation, reports Al-Jarida daily.
In a statement, Al- Sarraf indicated the certificate is subjected to nullification at any stage of the authentication and attestation process, and delegates from the union follow-up procedures through the administrative body in coordination between the cultural office and colleges to put in place an appropriate mechanism or through the formation of an interim committee in the colleges to respond to requests for data correction from the cultural office. “In an interview with head of the Cairo Cultural Bureau, Dr Ahmed Al-Mutairi, he said some issues were discussed, including the first student conference in Cairo to be held on April 17 and the arrangements made by the union to hold the first conference of its kind in the history of the union in Egypt”, he noted.
On reducing the number of Egyptian universities to study, Al-Sarraf said, “This limited the options for students who are going to study in Egyptian universities but did not prevent them from completing–according to the rules and regulations of (higher education) in Kuwait, so we appeal to the Minister of Education and Higher Education and those in charge of the national agency for academic accreditation to reconsider its decision in this regard.”
On the student elections in Egypt, he stressed there is a commitment from foreign unions to the union’s constitution and regulations in the electoral process and student democratic wedding, and it remains for the students to choose their representatives. On tribalism and partisan movements in elections, he said: “It is inevitable in any electoral process, but this does not mean the outcome of balloting and choices made by students are bad. Personally, I will be the first to oppose the entry of this partisan soul, and I will fight it.”
