RIYADH, Nov 8: A tower in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District was damaged by a projectile on Sunday amid a fresh wave of missile attacks targeting the Saudi capital, according to Reuters.
The news agency, citing a witness and three people briefed on the matter, reported that the building sustained damage after being struck by a projectile. The origin of the projectile, however, was not immediately established.
Saudi authorities had not immediately responded to requests for comment.
Earlier Sunday, the Saudi-led coalition said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles fired by Yemen's Houthi group toward Riyadh. Loud explosions were heard across the capital after Saudi Civil Defense issued an early-warning alert, before authorities later announced that the danger had passed.
The coalition subsequently reported intercepting two cruise missiles in Riyadh and Saudi Arabia's southern region, according to Reuters.
The damage to the tower in the King Abdullah Financial District came as hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis continued to escalate. It was not immediately clear whether the projectile that struck the building was linked to the missile attacks or resulted from debris following an interception.
