Promotions and benefits await KOC employees after decision cancelled

Workers union says it has concluded deal with oil company

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: The Kuwait Oil Company’s Workers Union announced that several promotions and benefits for the company’s employees will be implemented immediately after the decision to suspend promotions is canceled.

On its official X account, the union explained that it has concluded a deal with KOC, which includes the following:
■ the approval to provide vacancies for 16 job grades in the departments of accounting, human resources, and assets.
■ the approval of the job title of the first security officer under job grade 15 and allowing the workers under this grade to work according to the shift system according to the workers’ demands. This will bring about vacancies in the entire lower grade jobs in addition to filling the vacancies in the fire brigade.
■ the approval to separate between the production and distribution processes which will allow several workers to be promoted to higher positions.
■ the approval to promote a senior laboratory technician and bring back the chief laboratory technician to the laboratory laboratories in Al-Ratqa area.
■ the approval to conduct a comprehensive study on all job titles at the examining oil fields examination department
■ the approval to study gas-related operations for engineers and technicians, according to which the promotions, which will lead to their promotions. Meanwhile, the sources said, “The events witnessed in the extraordinary general assembly meeting of the Kuwait Oil Company Workers Union the day before yesterday led to the resignations of some members of the union’s board of directors in protest against the assembly being held without a quorum.”

They explained that these are what the Kuwait Oil Company workers have been demanding for a long time. It came as a shock when these demands were fulfilled in one sentence, following the unfortunate events that marred the extraordinary general assembly meeting, the aim of which was to vote on the proposed new changes in the bylaws of the union’s system to achieve certain goals.
