KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: As part of its investigations into the case of a bill fraud network in which 7 people are arrested, the Public Prosecution has summoned technicians from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy to explain the mechanism for issuing electricity bills to consumers, reports Al-Jarida daily. The sources told the daily that customer service systems, the mechanism for issuing invoices, how to calculate consumer debt, and the mechanism used to access and deal with those systems are downloaded on the laptops and the technicians explained in detail that mechanism how manipulators access it and issue invoices to those with big debts and how they drop them.
He added that the investigations led to the identification of some of those involved in the tampering, pointing to two real estate dealers, one of whom is said to be outside the country, noting that Al-Jarida had pointed out a few days ago that a travel ban had been issued against another who is proven to be involved in tampering with invoices and withholding large sums of money from his real estate. About a month ago, detectives arrested 7 people accused of tampering with electricity bills, and they were sent to prison to complete investigations into this file.
