KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: The Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) has introduced new regulations to improve the living conditions of workers in Kuwait, focusing on adequate housing standards and worker welfare.
According to the guidelines posted on social media, employers must ensure that each worker’s housing provides a space of no less than [specified amount] square meters, with no more than four workers per room. These measures are designed to reduce overcrowding and promote better living conditions for workers across various sectors. Employers who fail to provide suitable accommodation will be required to offer housing allowances to their workers.
In cases where employers cannot provide adequate housing, workers earning the minimum wage must receive a housing allowance of 25% of their salary. For those earning above the minimum wage, the allowance will be 15%.
Additionally, the PAM stresses that employers must obtain approval from the relevant authorities and related organizations before providing housing for their workers. This approval ensures that the accommodations meet the required standards and are deemed suitable for workers.
