DOHA, Aug 31: Qatar Ministry of Public Health Thursday announced detecting new cases of the new Covid-19 variant, explaining that the registered cases were minor cases, and did not lead to hospitalization at this point. Qatar News Agency (QNA) quoted the health ministry as saying that it is closely monitoring the epidemiological situation regarding the new sub-variants of Covid-19.
Earlier this month, World Health Organization (WHO) declared the new sub-variant of COVID-19, called EG.5, is an offshoot of the highly contagious Omicron variant, and has to date been reported in more than 50 countries, including the Gulf region. (KUNA)
