Following its standout debut at CES '24, Rabbit's compact AI device, the R1, has forged a strategic alliance with Perplexity AI.

This collaboration entails the integration of Perplexity AI's "conversational AI-powered answer engine" into the R1, courtesy of a complimentary offer. The initial 100,000 purchasers of the R1 will receive a one-year subscription to Perplexity Pro, valued at $200, at no additional cost. With 50,000 units already pre-ordered, the AI wearable is priced at $199.

Jesse Lyu, CEO of Rabbit, and Aravind Srinivas, co-founder of Perplexity, unveiled this partnership during a live Spaces broadcast on the microblogging platform X. The enhanced services provided by Perplexity AI include support for file uploads, a daily quota for over 300 intricate queries, and the ability to switch between AI models such as GPT-4, Claude 2.1, and Gemini.

While the R1 is proficient in tasks such as booking rides or tickets, discovering recipes, and identifying objects or individuals, the integration with Perplexity AI aims to enhance its fact-checking accuracy and provide up-to-date answers.

Interested buyers can currently pre-order the R1, with shipments expected to commence in March or April.

Notably, Perplexity AI recently secured $73.6 million in a funding round led by Databricks Ventures, with support from notable entities like former Twitter VP Elad Gil, Nvidia, and Jeff Bezos. The company, fueled by this substantial funding, is poised to challenge the dominance of search engine giant Google.
