KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29:  The Kuwait cricket team notched up their second consecutive win, prevailing over the Maldives national team with a final score of 103 runs to 100 in the inaugural stage of the Asian qualifiers, hosted in Doha. These qualifiers serve as the pathway to securing a spot in the 2024 Cricket World Cup in the United States. Following the match, team manager Captain Mahmoud Abdullah conveyed his contentment to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), underlining the team's consistent and positive performance.

This victory comes on the heels of their recent triumph against the Qatari team, marking an encouraging upward trajectory in the players' skill sets. Abdullah stressed the importance of the team maintaining their top-notch performance to amass the highest possible point total. The ultimate objective is to clinch the top spot, ensuring their qualification for the subsequent stage of the qualifiers, slated to be held in Nepal.

It's worth mentioning that this tournament operates on a league format, with each team engaging in two matches against other participating teams, resulting in six matches per team. The victor of each match earns a valuable two points, with the team that accumulates the most points progressing to the second stage of the qualifiers in Nepal.

In the previous day's action, the Kuwait cricket team secured a victory against the host Qatari team with a final score of 124 runs to 123, while the Saudi team notched a win over the Maldives team with a score of 172 runs to 110.

These qualifiers commenced yesterday and will persist until the fifth of October, taking place across various stadiums within the Asian city of Doha. The participating teams include Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the Maldives, with the team holding the highest rank ultimately earning a coveted place in the second round of qualifiers to be conducted in Nepal.
