Ramadan is expected to begin on March 1, 2025, according to UAE astronomer.

DUBAI, UAE, July 21: The upcoming Ramadan is projected to commence on March 1, 2025, as confirmed by UAE astronomer Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Association.

Al Jarwan stated that astronomical calculations indicate the crescent moon, which signifies the start of Ramadan, will be visible on Friday, February 28, 2025. Consequently, the first day of Ramadan is anticipated to be Saturday, March 1, 2025. These findings are based on accurate astronomical observations and are essential for Muslims to plan for the holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims globally through fasting from dawn until sunset and abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs. It is a period marked by deep spiritual reflection and heightened devotion. The beginning of Ramadan is traditionally determined by the sighting of the new moon, underscoring the importance of both astronomical calculations and physical moon sightings in its official announcement.
