KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, announced on Monday the commencement of major maintenance work on the Al-Subiya Expressway as part of new road improvement contracts. She emphasized the ministry’s continued efforts to enhance the country’s road infrastructure, with a focus on quality and adherence to international standards.
In a press statement, Minister Al-Mashaan explained that teams assigned to the maintenance of Al-Subiya Road conducted thorough inspections before beginning the required repairs. The maintenance efforts will start in the areas most in need of attention, gradually moving to less affected sections, all under the supervision and follow-up of the ministry’s teams.
Al-Mashaan highlighted that these road maintenance projects are part of the ministry’s broader strategic plan to improve the national road network. The initiative aims to provide a safe and sustainable environment for citizens and residents, in line with urban development and the growing transportation needs of the country.
The minister stressed the ministry's strong commitment to monitoring every phase of the project, from design through to completion. She reiterated the importance of adhering to internationally recognized quality standards and technical specifications to ensure that roads perform at the highest levels of durability and safety.
She also called for the swift completion of maintenance work, in line with the recommendations of His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. This is part of the government's broader commitment to maintaining and repairing the country’s infrastructure. “The infrastructure of any country is the main pillar of any economic vision,” she stated.
Minister Al-Mashaan further emphasized the need for coordination in resolving any outstanding issues related to road maintenance. She urged the implementing companies to complete the work with the highest quality, efficiency, and within the agreed-upon timeframes.
The minister noted that road maintenance is a top priority for Kuwait’s political leadership, citing the directives of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Their ongoing support for road maintenance projects aligns with the vision for an advanced infrastructure, which plays a vital role in the “New Kuwait 2035” development plan.
