KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The latest statistics issued by the Directorate General of Residence Affairs revealed the total of number of residency law violators in the country as of January 2019 is 109,721 constituting 61,506 male and 48,215 female, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The statistics, a copy of which has been obtained by Al-Jarida daily, show the number of violators registered under Article 20 (domestic workers) is 48,965 comprising of 14216 male and the remaining are females, while the number of violators registered under Article 18 is 29,424 including 27,806 male and 1618 female.

It pointed out that 22,401 violators are registered under Article 14 (temporary residence) and they constitute 15,536 male and 6865 female, while those registered under Article 22 have reached 7,387 represented by 2,711 males and 4,676 females.

It added the number of violators of Article 17 (government employees) is 1091 including 915 male and 176 female. meanwhile, security sources said Assistant Undersecretary for Residency Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Talal Marafiheld a meeting with senior officials of the ministry to develop a system of reducing the number of residency violators, especially as reports prepared in this regard indicate that setting a deadline could not yield the desired result.

Al-Marafiis said to have asked concerned officials to coordinate with the security authorities to arrest violators through security campaigns and checkpoints, and then refer those arrested to the deportation center.
