Revoked citizenship: Clearance to lift ban after status amendment

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 5: As the relevant authorities continue to audit and review citizenship files, issuing recommendations and decisions regarding them, it has been learned that individuals whose citizenship has been revoked and who wish to amend their status are subject to a ban on their bank accounts and transactions. This measure ensures that there are no outstanding debts or claims against them from state agencies.

Informed sources indicate that the Central Agency for Illegal Residents is coordinating with governmental and civil authorities to organize and amend the status of those whose Kuwaiti citizenship has been revoked. This includes approving individuals who successfully amend their status so that the ban on their accounts can be lifted by state agencies.

The sources confirmed that the agency will not lift the ban on any individual unless they provide a certificate of good conduct, demonstrating that they have no debts to state agencies, including local banks.

Additionally, the Authority has requested that banks issue a certificate of good conduct to anyone who amends their status after their citizenship has been revoked, provided they hold a civil ID card reflecting their new citizenship. The instructions also require banks to inform the Authority of any debts registered against individuals whose citizenship has been withdrawn, so that appropriate measures can be taken.
