KUWAIT CITY, Dec 10: Abrar Al-Musallam, the skilled horsewoman from the Hunting and Equestrian Club, emerged victorious in the prestigious show jumping tournament named in honor of the late Uncle Abdulaziz Al-Masaieed. The event unfolded at the Kuwait Equestrian Center in the Sabhan area, witnessing robust participation from both male and female riders representing various local clubs.
In the climactic "Grand Prize" round, set at a challenging height of 140 cm, Abrar Al-Musallam exhibited exceptional prowess. She not only secured a spot in the distinguished final round but also clinched the championship with a remarkable time of 37.79 seconds, devoid of any penalty points. Following her lead were accomplished knights Carlos Lange, Ghazi Al-Jariwi, Shaker Al-Kazemi, Fawaz Al-Subaie, Fawaz Al-Rashed, and Yara Al-Hunaidi.
Nasser Abdulaziz Al-Masaieed, the chairman of the tournament's organizing committee, had the honor of crowning the champions. The event drew the attention of Mishal Al-Subaie, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth, and Anwar Al-Hasawi, Vice President of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society. Notably, a donation was presented to the people of Gaza during the tournament.
In a significant milestone for Kuwaiti equestrianism, Nasser Al-Masaieed proudly announced that the tournament achieved its objectives by securing a live international broadcast on the globally influential "Clip My Horse" platform. This marked a transition from the local to the international stage, allowing a global audience to witness the competition live.
Al-Masaieed expressed optimism about the future of equestrian sports in Kuwait, anticipating the second round of the tournament in March and a forthcoming league with five tournaments in the next season. He emphasized the importance of government and private sector support for equestrian sports, given its growing popularity among male and female riders.
Abdulaziz Al-Masaieed highlighted a groundbreaking achievement in terms of participation, with the current championship boasting over 540 participants—a historic record surpassing the previous limit of 350. He extended heartfelt congratulations to Abrar Al-Musallam for her outstanding performance, swift timings, and flawless victory. The image of the triumphant champions on the podium captured the essence of their achievement.
