KUWAIT CITY, March 1: In line with ongoing efforts to enhance internal and external road infrastructure, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan announced the continuation of extensive road maintenance work in the Al Aqilah area under new contracts. She emphasized that road maintenance projects would proceed across all areas, with a full commitment to quality and adherence to international standards.
In a press statement, Dr. Al-Mashaan highlighted the significant role of road maintenance in fostering economic and social development, contributing to the overall vision of transforming Kuwait into a modern nation by 2035. She noted that infrastructure serves as the backbone of any country’s development, and the government’s comprehensive approach to state development integrates both economic and urban planning considerations.
Dr. Al-Mashaan stressed that infrastructure is not merely about physical facilities, but it forms the foundation for progress and prosperity. She further explained that investing in infrastructure enhances economic growth, improves the quality of life, and supports sustainable development.
"Road maintenance is not just about surface repairs; it is an investment in safety, efficiency, and sustainability," she said. "These improvements boost quality of life, strengthen the economy, and protect infrastructure investments, making them vital for any nation striving for progress and prosperity."
In a related development, Engineer Abdullah Al-Kandari, the Ahmadi Governorate Maintenance Supervisor for the First Zone (Contract 15), reported that the Ministry’s teams are currently stationed at Plot No. 4 to monitor progress on the new road maintenance contracts. He noted that the work involves laying a 5 cm-thick asphalt layer.
Eng. Saleh Mohammed Al-Habbaj from the Maintenance Engineering Sector also urged citizens and residents to stay informed about upcoming road closures by consulting with the General Traffic Department to avoid traffic congestion.
These ongoing projects reflect the Ministry’s commitment to improving Kuwait’s infrastructure, aligning with the country's broader goals for development and prosperity.
