KUWAIT CITY, March 16, (KUNA): The 2024/25 Kuwait Handball Super Cup will begin tomorrow, Monday, featuring a four-team format for the semi-finals. The tournament will take place at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex in the Sabah Al-Salem suburb, with Kuwait Club facing Salmiya and Al-Arabi playing Kazma.

Salmiya’s coach, Yaqoub Al-Mousawi, spoke to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, emphasizing that the main objective is to compete in a high-level tournament to prepare fully for the Premier League. While Salmiya aims to give its best and seize the opportunity to win the Kuwait Super Cup, Al-Mousawi hopes the tournament will attract a large crowd. He acknowledged the impact of the league's suspension and the delayed return of international players on the team's preparations but assured that they are focusing on utilizing available players until the tournament kicks off.

Walid Salmeen also shared his thoughts with KUNA, noting that the Kuwait Super Cup is an important competition, offering both moral and physical value for the teams and players, especially with the upcoming sports season in mind. Salmeen highlighted Kuwait Club as the likely favorite to win the title due to their roster of high-caliber international players and their strong mental readiness. However, he cautioned that surprises are possible, given the determination of teams like Kazma, Salmiya, and Al-Arabi.

Kuwait Club is aiming to retain its title, having won last season’s Super Cup by defeating Al-Qadsia in the final. This victory would mark the fourth title in the competition, further solidifying its dominance as the most decorated team. Kazma, on the other hand, is hoping to claim its second Super Cup title, following their 2022 victory when they triumphed over Kuwait Club in the final.
