Robert Plant

LOS ANGELES, Oct 26, (Agencies): Over the past weekend, Robert Plant delivered a remarkable performance of "Stairway To Heaven" at a charity event in Oxfordshire. It marked Plant's first public rendition of the iconic song since Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day show in 2007. Guitarist Kenwyn House, previously of the Brit rock band Reef and now a member of Goldray, has disclosed that the decision to perform the song was influenced by a generous six-figure donation to the charity.

House, who was brought in as a replacement for event organizer and Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor, shared insights into the behind-the-scenes events. He wasn't aware that "Stairway To Heaven" was on the setlist until he arrived for rehearsals.

Describing the experience, House stated, "It was a combination between uber-excitement and terror. I literally only had four days to learn everything." Playing "Stairway to Heaven" alongside his hero, Robert Plant, in an intimate setting was an exceptionally high-pressure professional moment for House.

He revealed that "Stairway To Heaven," a song that Plant is known for being reluctant to perform, was included in the setlist due to a substantial donation made to Andy Taylor's chosen charity, The Cancer Platform. House stated, "Someone bid a huge amount of money for him to sing this song. There is a good circle of karma around it. That one song raised a six-figure sum for the charity."

The charity event, hosted at Soho Farmhouse near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, featured a diverse lineup, including Pink Floyd's Guy Pratt on bass, Rod Stewart's drummer David Palmer, and several other talented musicians. The event raised over £1 million in support of The Cancer Platform, a tool launched by the Cancer Awareness Trust with the goal of significantly improving the lives of those affected by cancer.

Meanwhile, Goldray is actively working on their third album.
