KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: Ministry of Social Affairs has circulated to all charitable societies and organizations the conditions and controls for collecting donations, which included new controls related to collecting donations through electronic devices located in the associations’ headquarters, in implementation of ministerial resolution No. 36/2020 regarding the amendment of the fundraising regulation in line with the international requirements of the financial regulations, reports a local daily.
In a press statement, the ministry stated that it had carried out an inspection campaign on charity and philanthropic organizations to ensure compliance with the conditions and to ensure the availability of approvals and requirements while waiting for the approval of the devices.
It indicated that 20 sites belonging to four charitable societies have been inspected so far.
The ministry explained that the most prominent conditions are to be compliant with the specifications, and carry clear serial numbers, the number of devices, and the identification of the donor through the use of the civil ID card, and provide the ministry with contracts signed with the money transfer companies. It affirmed that it will continue to carry out inspection campaigns until all devices are examined, as the ministry is keen on the integrity of charitable work and immunizing it from any suspicions.
