KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) recently launched an awareness campaign across its social media channels, outlining the rights and responsibilities of domestic workers, as well as procedures for transferring to new employers. A domestic worker changes employers during the warranty period — defined as the first six months from the worker’s arrival in Kuwait — without notifying PAM, the worker’s warranty becomes void. The transfer process would require a new contract involving the worker, the new employer, the recruitment office, and PAM’s Department for Organizing and Recruiting Domestic Workers.
The source further emphasized that if a worker chooses to discontinue employment during these six months, they should be brought to the Department of Organizing and Recruiting Domestic Workers to ensure the original employer's right to a refund of recruitment expenses. This measure is designed to safeguard employers’ financial investment in hiring and offer domestic workers clarity on their employment rights.
