LOS ANGELES, Oct 10, (Agencies): Ryan Reynolds spoke openly about parenting and his children's mental well-being during the Bring Change to Mind Revels & Revelations 11 event in New York City. The 46-year-old actor emphasized the importance of communication with his kids, stating, "I think it's more about talking to them about everything. It's genuine when I say I take a huge interest in their days and how things are going."
Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, also stressed the significance of "self-awareness" to their four children, along with sharing insights into their daily routines. He explained, "For me, the best time of my day is walking them to school and walking them back. I think as parents, we are so much better equipped to handle the challenges of childhood through our kids now than when I was a kid. It's just a completely different landscape. People are much more self-aware, and that's what we focus on the most with our kids. Not just being happy or achieving something, but being self-aware and embracing all aspects of life."
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, 36, are the parents of three daughters: James, 8, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4. They welcomed their fourth child in February.
During the event, Reynolds received the Robin Williams' Legacy of Laughter Award, an honor presented by the organization Bring Change to Mind, established by actress Glenn Close and her family in 2009 to combat the stigma associated with mental illness.
