KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The eighth round of the Zain Premier League kicks off today with two matches. In the first, Yarmouk will face Salmiya at Thamer Stadium at 5:50 pm, while the second sees Qadsia take on Fahaheel at Al-Shabab Stadium at 7:50 pm.

The round will conclude tomorrow, with Khaitan meeting Al-Tadamon and Kuwait Club facing Kazma. Meanwhile, Al-Arabi's game against Al-Nasr has been postponed due to Al-Arabi's participation in the Asian Challenge League.

Currently fifth in the standings with 10 points, Al-Qadsiya is aiming for multiple gains in its matchup with Fahaheel, who sits in third place with 11 points. Al-Qadsiya seeks a win to surpass Fahaheel and keep alive its challenging pursuit of the league title. The team’s morale is high following their recent 1-1 draw against Qatar’s Al-Arabi in the Gulf Clubs Championship.

Montenegrin coach Zeljko Petrovic praised Al-Qadsiya’s fighting spirit, noting that the Gulf Championship provides young players valuable experience and a chance to reach advanced stages in the tournament.

On the other side, Al-Fahaheel, under Syrian coach Firas Al-Khatib, is determined to return to winning form after a 2-2 draw with Al-Tadamon. Al-Khatib emphasized the importance of a win to maintain their third-place position and avoid slipping in the standings.

Fourth in the standings with 11 points, Al-Salmiya aims to end its recent slump after a series of setbacks, including a 3-4 loss to Kuwait Club and draws with Khaitan and Fahaheel. These results have pushed the "Sky Blues" further from the top positions and placed pressure on them to avoid falling further.

Yarmouk, positioned at the bottom of the standings with just 3 points, hopes to capitalize on Salmiya's difficulties and secure its first victory. Serbian coach Goran Matkovic is under significant pressure to lead Yarmouk out of the danger zone, and he is optimistic that tonight’s game will be a turning point.
