KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: Salmiya extended its lead in the Handball League after securing a 33-28 win against Yarmouk in the seventh round of the competition. In other matches, Burgan triumphed 28-22 over Sulaibikhat, and Al-Tadamon won 3-1 on penalty kicks following a 29-29 draw with Al-Sahel.

With this victory, Salmiya increased its points tally to 12, staying 3 points ahead of second-place Burgan. Al-Tadamon earned its first point of the season after defeating Al-Sahel in the penalty shootout. Yarmouk remains in 13th place without points, ahead of last-placed Al-Sahel on goal difference, while Al-Sulaibikhat stayed in eighth place with 8 points.

The league follows a single-round system, with the top six teams advancing to the Premier League, which will be played in a three-division league format. These teams will carry over their points from the preliminary round, while teams finishing in seventh to fourteenth place will compete in a two-division league to determine rankings.

The matches between Kuwait Club and Kazma were postponed due to their participation in the ongoing Asian Championship in Bahrain.
