KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: Salmiya sparked the Zain First Division League after defeating their guest, Al- Shabab, 2-1 in a match held two days ago at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium, as part of the eighth round of the competition. The two goals for Salmiya were scored by Brazilians Bruno and Silva, while Al- Shabab’s goal was scored by Ali Al-Doukhi. Salmiya stopped Al-Shabab’s progress, which had been leading the league with 11 points, while Salmiya raised their tally to 8 points, securing fourth place. In another match, Al-Jahra drew 2-2 with Borkan at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in the same round. The goals for Al-Jahra were scored by Stephen Kwame and Obaid Rafee, while Borkan’s goals came from Nigerian Alex Christian and Romanian Vlad Matrok via a penalty kick. Al-Jahra now has 9 points, placing them in second, while Borkan’s points increased to 8, putting them in third. Al-Sahil (7 points) was absent from this round.
