KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: Salwa Sports Club emerged victorious in the third Women's Friendly Handball Tournament, narrowly defeating its Qatari counterpart on goal difference to claim the title. The tournament, held from November 17 to 22, concluded with Kirkuk of Iraq securing third place, showcasing exceptional levels of performance throughout the competition.
Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Salwa Al-Sabah Club, expressed her joy at the team's triumph, highlighting the fierce and high-quality competition displayed by all participating teams.
She emphasized that such tournaments play a vital role in promoting women’s sports in Kuwait and nurturing local talent across various disciplines. Sheikha Naima reaffirmed the club’s dedication to developing women’s handball and pointed out that this is the third tournament organized by the club to foster sportsmanship and collaboration among Gulf and Arab clubs. This initiative reflects the club’s commitment to elevating women’s sports regionally.
The tournament concluded with Sheikha Naima presenting the awards to the players, joined by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Salah Al-Maliki, and Dr. Amira Al-Hassan, Head of the United Nations Human Settlements Program Mission.
