KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: Just four days after the Ministry of Interior threatened to take strict action against vehicles producing disturbing noises and to immediately shut down companies supplying vehicles with disruptive exhaust systems, informed security sources revealed Salwa detectives, based on the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, arrested four expatriates in possession of approximately 350 noisy exhaust devices stored in garages in Shuwaikh Industrial. They affirmed the garages were closed in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The ministry disclosed last Saturday that as part of ongoing efforts to combat negative phenomena that disturb public comfort and affect road safety; the General Traffic Department (GTD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, affirmed the continuation of intensive traffic campaigns through the establishment of fixed and mobile checkpoints to impound vehicles whose exhausts were modified illegally and emit annoying sounds, in addition to the immediate closure of garages that supply vehicles with illegal exhausts.
