RIYADH, Nov 7: The Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen's internationally recognised government has reported intercepting and destroying a drone over the Riyadh region amid continued aerial threats against Saudi Arabia.

Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki announced the interception in a statement posted on X, the US-based social media platform.

The incident comes amid escalating hostilities between the coalition and Yemen's Houthi movement, which has repeatedly launched drones and missiles towards Saudi territory.

Saudi air defences have intercepted several aerial threats in recent days, including drones targeting the Riyadh region and other parts of the kingdom.

The latest developments have heightened security concerns as the conflict involving the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition continues to threaten regional stability.

Editorial verification note: There is a discrepancy in the supplied report's date and location. The latest report I found from Qatar News Agency, dated November 6, says a drone was intercepted in Makkah Province, not Riyadh. It also reports the interception of two Houthi ballistic missiles heading towards Najran Province.

QNA The Riyadh interception was reported earlier, on November 2, when two drones were destroyed.
