RIYADH, Dec 1: The Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia officially began operations on Sunday, opening three of its six tracks in the first phase of the project. The metro, one of the largest public transport initiatives in the region, is designed to improve mobility within the capital and enhance the quality of life for residents.
The remaining tracks are set to open in the coming months according to a detailed timeline, further improving the city's transportation system. The project features a modern and integrated train network aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and offering a safe, comfortable transportation option for both residents and visitors.
The metro system comprises six tracks spanning 176 kilometers and includes 85 stations, including four main hubs. The project is being implemented by three consortiums, involving more than 19 major international companies from 13 countries.
