Riyadh, Nov 26: A Saudi citizen has been arrested by the environmental police for possessing and exhibiting 102 mummified wild animals and birds, including three endangered species, without the required license. The Special Forces for Environmental Security (SFES) in the Eastern Province uncovered this violation of the kingdom's environmental law. Legal actions have been initiated against the accused, and coordination has been established with the National Centre for Wildlife to take custody of the confiscated creatures, as reported by the Saudi news agency SPA.
The illicit activity goes against Saudi regulations, and displaying wildlife-related products without a license or from an unidentified origin is considered an offense. Penalties for such violations can range up to SR10,000 per kilogram, depending on the species, under Saudi law.
