RIYADH, July 29, (KUNA): Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman has officially endorsed Saudi Arabia's bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034. This endorsement follows the completion of the bid's detailed requirements, preparing for the submission of the bid book to FIFA in Paris, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi delegation, led by Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al-Saud, and President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) Yasser Al-Misehal, will present the bid.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki expressed deep gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince for their support and guidance, emphasizing their role in transforming Saudi Arabia into a global sports hub. He stated, "The Kingdom is experiencing unprecedented growth and transformation in sports, thanks to the King's support."
He further noted, "We are dedicated to hosting an exceptional FIFA World Cup, featuring 48 teams in one country for the first time. The Crown Prince's direct involvement in this bid highlights his commitment to advancing Saudi sport in alignment with Vision 2030, aiming to develop a generation of athletes ready for global competition."
The bid book submission will be officially presented at a FIFA ceremony in Paris. The bid process began on October 4, 2023, when Saudi Arabia announced its intention through the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The bid's identity is branded under the slogan 'Growing. Together, was also revealed. The final decision on the host nation for the FIFA World Cup 2034 will be announced by FIFA during a General Assembly meeting in December this year.
