KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: The Civil Chamber of the Court of Appeals has obliged a primary school teacher to pay KD5,001 as temporary compensation to a student’s guardian, for the moral and material damages he suffered when the teacher slapped, insulted, and threatened the student, reports Al-Anba daily. Attorney Mustafa Mulla Youssef, the lawyer of the guardian, told the daily that his client obtained a final Criminal Court ruling on abstaining from punishing the defendant. He then argued that the criminal ruling proved that the defendant assaulted the student, causing emotional and physical damage to the child. He pointed out the elements of error, as well as responsibility for the unlawful act against his client. He stressed that this means the defendant is liable for the incident, so his client is entitled to compensation for material and moral damages.
