KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: The Ministry of Education schools recorded almost mass absences on Sunday -- two days before the National Day and Liberation Day. Educational sector sources confirmed that attendance rates in some schools were very low; as some classes recorded the attendance of only one or two students, while some classrooms appeared completely empty, expecting such level of absence to continue on Monday. A number of teachers and administrators expressed their dissatisfaction over this phenomenon indicating that the absence of students in this way hinders the educational process and affects the progress of the curricula. Sources stated that this phenomenon is repeated every before official holidays and vacations, calling for radical solutions to ensure the stability of school hours during such periods.
Meanwhile , the Ministry of Education has announced the official working hours for all educational stages during the holy month of Ramadan for the academic year 2024-2025. The attendance and departure times for each educational stage are as follows:
- Kindergarten: 9:40 am to 1:10 pm
- Elementary: 9:40 am to 1:45 pm
- Intermediate: 9:20 am to 2:00 pm
- Secondary: 9:30 am to 2:10 pm
