Schools urged to avoid fanaticism and violent competitions

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The Ministry of Education has emphasized to school administrations the importance of avoiding competitions that encourage fanaticism and factionalism, reminding them that schools are meant to achieve educational goals and promote values and morals. In a bulletin distributed to schools, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Student Activities, Maryam Al-Anzi, highlighted the significance of the morning assembly in fostering educational objectives.

Al-Anzi explained that the morning assembly plays a key role in teaching students to respect time, instilling emotional values such as patriotism and a sense of belonging, and showcasing students' talents. Additionally, the assembly provides a platform for students to listen to important instructions from the administration, making it an integral part of a successful school day. She noted that the assembly has multiple objectives, including educational, physical, and national benefits.

The development sector is keen to revive the morning assembly due to its numerous advantages for students and its role in enhancing the educational process. Al-Anzi urged school administrations to ensure the assembly includes meaningful activities, beneficial competitions, and educational advice that motivates students to strive for academic excellence.

She further stressed the importance of avoiding any competitions or contests that promote fanaticism or violence in any form. Al-Anzi also emphasized the need for all students, including those who arrive late, to attend the assembly to benefit from it and develop a habit of punctuality.
