KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to advancing the pharmaceutical sector, enhancing the work environment, and encouraging scientific research during the opening of the Second Kuwait Conference for Pharmaceutical Progress on Sunday.

Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized that the ministry aims to adopt global best practices to ensure sustainable development, high-quality performance, and effective responses to health challenges. He expressed pride in sponsoring the conference, which serves as a key platform for sharing expertise, building professional partnerships, and advancing academic achievement in the pharmaceutical sector.

The minister highlighted the significant progress in Kuwait’s pharmaceutical sector, which aligns with global advancements in health sciences. He noted the expansion of pharmaceutical services to new residential areas, ensuring equitable access to healthcare, and the introduction of training programs for pharmacists in clinical pharmacy, elderly care, and medication safety. These initiatives are part of the Ministry of Health’s strategic efforts to improve the quality of care for both citizens and residents.

Al-Awadhi also spoke about the activation of health technology assessment programs, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to its National Vision 2035. These initiatives aim to enhance drug security, optimize healthcare resource use, and accelerate drug registration processes. Additionally, new digital platforms are strengthening drug control, ensuring patient safety, and improving treatment effectiveness.

Dr. Al-Awadhi acknowledged the critical role of pharmacists in these achievements, thanking them for their dedication. He stated that the conference plays a pivotal role in showcasing the latest developments and fostering integration between healthcare services and scientific research.

Conference Chairman Dr. Ahmed Taqi outlined the program, which includes scientific lectures, workshops, and discussion panels led by over 40 experts. The sessions cover four key themes: regulation and economics, clinical pharmacy, education and training, and pharmacy practice. Taqi noted that the conference was designed to align with both global trends and Kuwait’s national vision.

He emphasized that the conference aims to strengthen communication and collaboration between pharmacists and healthcare professionals, with the goal of developing the profession and supporting the healthcare system. Taqi also proudly highlighted that the conference was entirely organized by Kuwaiti pharmacists, showcasing their dedication and efforts.
