MANILA, Sept 24: An unidentified individual hurled a Molotov bomb into the open parking lot of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) Saturday morning, resulting in damage to three vehicles, reports Philippines news agencies. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the police Aviation Security Group are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.

According to the MIAA, initial reports from individuals in the vicinity at the time of the incident indicated that a sound resembling a minor explosion emanated from the open parking area in front of Terminal 3. Upon inspection, it was discovered that a glass bottle containing a flammable substance, wrapped in cloth, had shattered, with its fragments striking three vehicles parked nearby. Eyewitnesses also reported observing small flames at the lower parts of the affected vehicles.

The occurrence transpired around 9:30 a.m., as confirmed by authorities. The MIAA disclosed that closed-circuit television footage from the parking area and nearby establishments is presently under review as part of the investigation. In addition, Scene of Crime Operation personnel from the Pasay City police have been enlisted to aid in the inquiry.

As a precautionary measure, the MIAA has issued instructions for the Airport Police Department to increase personnel deployment in the vicinity of NAIA Terminals.
