Security Sweep in Key Areas Nets 146 Arrests, 1,676 Traffic Violations

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: The Ministry of Interior conducted a comprehensive security and traffic campaign today, Thursday, October 17, 2024, in several areas including Khaitan, Farwaniya, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Al-Mutlaa, and Mahboula. The operation involved the General Traffic Department, General Department of Rescue Police, Public Security Sector, General Department of Special Security Forces, and the Women’s Police.

As a result of the campaign, a total of 1,676 traffic violations were issued, and 146 individuals were apprehended. Among those detained were three drug users, 21 individuals with expired residency permits, and 32 without proper identification. Additionally, the operation led to the arrest of 16 absentees, 39 individuals with outstanding warrants, and five persons in abnormal condition. One criminal facing execution was also apprehended, along with seven juveniles, one individual for possession of alcoholic beverages, and five vehicles and bicycles were seized. Furthermore, 12 wanted vehicles were confiscated.

The apprehended individuals and seized vehicles were referred to the relevant authorities for necessary legal action.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that these ongoing campaigns aim to apprehend violators of residency laws, maintain public order and security, and address negative behaviors within society.
