KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: The Competition Protection Authority (CPA) has rejected the settlement offered by two delivery companies – Carriage and Talabat, reports Al-Jarida daily.
CPA refused to dismiss the lawsuit against the two companies unless they address violations in the contracts they signed with restaurants and coffee shops concerning monopolization, in addition to paying the stipulated fine which exceeds KD5 million.
Sources stressed that the law allows CPA to take legal action including the suspension of licenses issued to the two companies. Sources pointed out that these companies have been refusing to execute the decisions taken by CPA since July 2019 such as the payment of fine.
Sources said the attitude of these companies can be considered as defying CPA’s decisions, indicating the Investigations General Department is currently looking into the lawsuits filed against the two companies.
