Mohammed Al-Daihani aims for a target during the Skeet competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

PARIS, Aug 3, (Agencies): Kuwait’s sailor Amina Shah delivered another impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Saturday, marking her second consecutive standout day.
Shah, the first Kuwaiti and Gulf athlete to compete in Olympic sailing, completed six out of ten races with a total of 257 points over the two days.
As she continues her competition on Sunday, Shah’s remarkable performance is a result of extensive preparation, including overseas training camps and international courses in recent months.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti shooter Mohammed Al-Daihani concluded his participation in the skeet shooting events at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Al-Daihani scored 120 out of 125 targets in the qualifying round, ending his Olympic journey after a strong performance in the second stage but an unfortunate start in the first stage. Despite a perfect score of 50 in the second stage, Al-Daihani’s initial round score of 70 out of 75 targets affected his overall ranking, resulting in his exit from the competition in his first Olympic appearance.

In athletics, Kuwaiti runner Amal Al-Rumi secured eighth place in the 800m race at the Paris Olympics with a time of 2:12:13. Al-Rumi, reflecting on her debut Olympic experience, expressed her enthusiasm for competing against elite athletes and views it as a stepping stone for future events, including the Los Angeles Olympics.

Yaqoub Al-Youha is set to compete in the 110-meter hurdles race today, aiming for a strong performance to advance to the finals. Hussein Dashti, Secretary of the Kuwait Athletics Federation, noted that Al-Youha has undergone intensive rehabilitation in preparation for his second Summer Olympics, following his previous participation in Tokyo.
