Mohammed Zubaid

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The President of the Water Sports Federation, Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr Al-Sabah, expressed his joy over Kuwait’s achievement of a new Arab record and the winning of gold and bronze medals at the third Arab Swimming Championship for juniors, hosted by Egypt with participation from 16 countries. Sheikh Al-Badr congratulated swimmer Mohammed Zubaid for securing the gold medal in the 50-meter butterfly event for the 15-16 age group, where he set a new Arab record with a time of 24.68 seconds, breaking the previous record of 26.04 seconds. Swimmer Hamoud Al-Hamoud also earned a bronze medal with a time of 27.80 seconds.

In recognition of these achievements, Sheikh Al-Badr announced a financial reward of one thousand dinars for each player who sets a new Arab record in the championship, as well as 500 dinars for each gold medalist and 200 dinars for those who win silver or bronze medals. Sheikh Al-Badr emphasized that these results demonstrate that Kuwaiti swimming is on the right track and that Kuwait’s athletes are capable of achieving accomplishments that will bring honour to Kuwait in both Arab and continental competitions, provided they receive proper preparation and support. This is a key focus for the Federation's Board of Directors.

He also urged relevant sports authorities to remove obstacles faced by athletes in Kuwait to foster a sports renaissance that aligns with the comprehensive reforms being implemented by the country’s political leadership.

Finally, Sheikh Al-Badr extended his thanks and appreciation to the players and their families for their dedication and hard work, noting that the upcoming period will see continued efforts to achieve further accomplishments that will raise Kuwait’s profile in the international sports arena.
