Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah Memorial Shooting Championship kicks off

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: The Kuwait Shooting Sports Club is hosting the annual championship honouring the late Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah for the 2024-2025 season. The event is being held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Range Complex and features participation from Kuwaiti shooters. The championship spans three days.

Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club, stated in a press release that the championship includes six shooting and archery competitions for men, women, and junior categories. The events feature the following disciplines:

Shooting: 10-meter air pistol, 10-meter air rifle, 25-meter pistol, and 50-meter rifle.

Archery: Olympic archery and composite archery.

Al-Otaibi explained that the opening day, held yesterday, was dedicated to official training, while the finals are scheduled for today and tomorrow.

He highlighted that the club’s technical and administrative teams began preparations well in advance to ensure the success of this significant event. This included organizing training schedules, and competition timetables, and preparing the shooting ranges with all necessary equipment for the participants.

The championship serves as a key milestone for Kuwait’s national team shooters, allowing them to fine-tune their skills ahead of upcoming international competitions. Al-Otaibi expressed hope that all participants, male and female, would deliver outstanding performances.

He emphasized the special significance of this championship within Kuwait’s shooting community, recognizing the late Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah’s pivotal contributions to the sport’s development in the country. He also extended his gratitude to Sheikh Ali’s family for their continued dedication to organizing this annual event.
