Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser celebrates Kuwait’s international equestrian milestone

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 4: The Chairman of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser, expressed his pride in Kuwait hosting the first international show jumping championship qualifying for the World Cup in the 2024-2025 sports season. The event, held amidst strong competition among male and female riders, highlights the nation's commitment to equestrian excellence.

Speaking at the Kuwait International Championship at the Kuwait Equestrian Center in Subhan, Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser said, "Today, we witness the first international championship qualifying for the World Cup in equestrian show jumping, hosted at the Kuwait Equestrian Center track. This is a moment of immense pride for the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee and local sports federations as we continue to bring such prestigious international events to Kuwait."

He also congratulated the Chairman and members of the Kuwait Equestrian Federation on the Equestrian Society's nomination to lead the sport through the 2024-2028 electoral cycle. Sheikh Fahad noted the significant progress made in equestrian sports over the past four years, including hosting numerous international two-star and three-star show jumping events. He expressed confidence in the leadership of Masoud Jawhar Hayat, Chairman of the Federation, along with Vice President Sheikh Yousef Mishaal Al-Sabah, Secretary Ghazi Al-Jariwi, and the rest of the team. Sheikh Fahad commended Ghazi Al-Jariwi, a dedicated member of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, for his passion and expertise, emphasizing his ability to further elevate Kuwaiti equestrianism alongside his colleagues.

On the second day of the championship, Saudi rider Abdulrahman Al-Rajhi clinched first place in the Grand Prix category, jumping at a height of 145 cm. His compatriot Abdullah Al-Sharbatli secured second place, while Abdullah Al-Awadhi took third.

The winners were crowned by Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser, Director General of the Sports Authority Bashar Abdullah, and Ghazi Al-Jariwi, marking a triumphant conclusion to a thrilling day of competition.
